Sweating

             There are some hints referring to banya.

  1. You must come into the steaming room several times and stay there not so long in order not to overwarm. Otherwise you are becoming pale and feel dizziness. Anyway if it happens, you can be placed in a cool room to breathe fresh air. Your head must be up a little. You can be given a mustard plaster on the back part of your head.
  2. Your kidneys are working more successfully if you are lying on the wooden planks, while sweating, not sitting or standing. More water and salt are released at this position. It is banya that clean your kidneys and make you younger.
  3. You always think of sweating in the banya. This process helps remove excess lactic acid from muscles. Oxygen goes to muscles freely. It is noticed, if you stop sweating, you should scrub your body with salt, honey, or beer. The sweating increases and you lose weight. To increase the sweating you can drink some warm water with a slice of lemon, cranberry juice, or raspberry tea. Cold drinks are not allowed.
  4. If your problem is obesity, you should know that steam bathing stimulates protein circulation, that is improve digestibility of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and mineral elements. You can improve this process by using the so-called “venic” (Russian word). It is an important part of banya if you are loosing weight. It consists of a leafy bundle of birch or oak twigs which help your body massage.
  5. From time to time you should go out into a washing room to have a rest, and to pour yourself over with warm water. Then thoroughly scrub your body with a wash-rag made of natural fibers.
  6. During your loosing weight you may massage your body in the warm room, far from open doors, windows, or ventilation. Before entering the steaming room each time you have to weigh, wrapping into the linen. To take a cold shower, or jump into a cold pool are not recommended at all, because your blood vessels decrease and the sweating stop.

       Doctors recommend two more advice. First, when planning to lose weight, don’t eat much salt; it will provide good release excess water from your body.
